East Park the People's Park.
We rediscovered East Park in Hull, we had forgotten how big it is and how many different things there are to do.
It is a Grade II listed park situated in 130 acres. There is so much to do, a great playground and water area for the kids, although the water park is much better in the summer!!
There is a lake where you can pedal around on giant swans, but it also has a Wickstead Splash boat which is also listed and built in 1929, a nice bit of retro entertainment.
It has a mini animal farm with some cute Pygmy goats and loads of stunning peacocks. For the more sporting there is also an organised 5k run every Saturday.
Come out this weekend and rediscover some of East Yorkshire fantastic parks. For more flowers then Harrogate Autumn Flower Show is well worth a visit. More details on http://www.flowershow.org.uk/

Puffins and Flowers
Now there has been a bit of rain, it seems to be time to try to beat the neighbours with fantastic displays of hanging baskets and pots, rather than face the packed garden centres, Leven Allotment Association is holding a sale of summer pots and hanging baskets 10.30am - 2pm in the Hare and Hounds car park in Leven.
To see how it should be done Linden House in Cottingham (sat and sun) and Beacon Garth in Hessle (sun only) are part of the RGS Open Gardens Scheme with yummy home made teas at both of them.
For something other than plants, how about a Puffin Patrol at RSPB site at Bempton Cliffs, booking is advised they are running patrols both Saturday and Sunday and most weekends up to mid July. To book check the website or phone the Visitor Centre on 01262 851179.
Whatever you decide, have a great weekend.
More events in and around East Yorkshire next week.
